F-Bomb

Most of us are probably better at using one F-word over the one that we should be using a lot more. Yes I know we are good at the 4 letter F-word but what about the 7 letter F-word? Forgive. I forgive you. That one isn’t as easy to say is it? We are talking about the bigger 7 letter F-Bomb the next two weeks at church and I can’t wait to see how it changes people’s lives!

On that note…have you seen this video? F you all who haven’t!

Who do you need to say F-You to?

Putting Value On Things

I was on a hot date at the Sonoma County Fair with my girlfriend a few weeks ago when she brought something up. She said, “Chris you put a value on everything.” I do what?!?!? “You put a value on everything.”

Examples:

The Walk On Water Attraction – “I would walk on water if I was Jesus or it was $5…but it’s $8 so I’ll pass.”

The Dress Up Western Photos – “I would dress up with you, wear a cowboy hat, and hold a gun if it was $20…but it’s $30 so I’ll pass.”

Mini Donuts – “I would eat a whole bag of you sugar and lard if you were $4…but you are $5 so I’ll pass. OK I take that back…I will still eat you.”

Apple Pie – “I would eat you if you were $3…but you are $5 and I’ve already had a cinnamon roll and I am going to have mini donuts so I’ll pass.”

I guess I put a value on a lot of things but I also don’t think that any of these things are things that I need. Well I know that they aren’t things that I need.

My question to you –  What do you put value on? And why?

Community Group

We started our study of Jonah last night in my Community Group. Jonah was a runner…but he wasn’t running toward anything.

Think about where God is currently leading you that you don’t want to go. What is the worst that could happen in this situation? What is the best that could happen? Can God be trusted to lead you through this?

What is your first step in following where God is leading you?

He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.” Jonah 1:9

We finished our study of Galatians last night and have had 4 new people join us over the last two weeks. Here are some questions from last night.

How has your thinking been changed as you’ve gone through the book of Galatians?

What will you do differently as a result of reading through this book of the Bible?

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10

Stuff to think about from Community Group this week.

Would you say that you are led by the Spirit (Gal 5:18)? Do you follow your own course, or do you lean on God to guide you? How can you become more dependent on the Spirit to direct you?

How can you love your neighbor this week? What is a specific way that you can use your freedom to serve someone else this week?

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. – Galatians 5:1

Here are the take home questions from last nights community group.

When you consider the way you view your relationship with God, do you view yourself more as a slave or as a child?

What can you do to remind yourself this week that you are a child of God, unconditionally loved by your Father?

Galatians 4:7 So you are no longer slaves, but God’s children; and since you are his children, he has made you also heirs.

This wasn’t one of the take home questions, but something to think about.

How does your relationship with your parents influence your view of your Heavenly Father?

Brighten

Brighten is one of my favorite bands who happen to be from the lovely town of Chico California. Their album Be Human is amazing…buy it…no seriously buy it! Below are teaser clips from their new EP “I’ll Always Be Around.”

The Fair

Erika and I went to the wonderful Sonoma County Fair last week. Here are a couple pictures from our adventures. Sunday we are going back with the youth where will we see the vita mix in action, dogs flying into a pool, turkeys racing around a track and pigs dancing. The fair is a wonderful place to spend time.

Yes my fat head takes up too much room.

I gave these flowers a thumbs up.
